Can you consolidate financial data from many Xero organisations with different charts of accounts?
Yes. dataSights supports mapping between different charts of accounts. You can set up your own account groupings, account mappings, and rules in our platform, or you can upload your own Mappings for custom report building in Excel or Power BI. So even if your entities use different account names or structures, you get consistent consolidated reporting.
How are eliminations and adjustments handled?
You can set automated inter-company and internal eliminations based on the rules you define. For special cases, manual adjustment journals are supported. All consolidated reports always balance, even after eliminations and adjustments.
What about foreign currency / FX conversions?
dataSights supports multi-currency consolidations. You define the group reporting currency, we use an average for P&L and spot for BS, and any differences are posted as custom accounts so your reports always balance. When building in Excel and Power BI, you can upload your own FX tables and we can extend your views so you don’t have to do any FX calculations.
How often is my data synced, and is it real-time?
Xero & other connected data sources sync automatically (e.g. daily), with on-demand refresh after posting adjustments or making changes in Xero.For BI Dashboards, syncing can be automated on any schedule required.
Do you have management reports and Excel and Power BI automation?
Yes. dataSights provides ready-to-use and customisable management reports that you can run in our web app, download into Excel, or automate in Power BI. With our Office Add-In and Power Query, you can refresh reports with one click, schedule updates, or build completely custom workflows — removing manual effort from reporting and consolidations.
How secure is my data and where is it stored?
- Your data is stored in a dedicated Microsoft Azure SQL data warehouse per customer in a global region of your choice
- By default we host your database in our Microsoft Account, but we can easily move the database to your Microsoft Account – so you own everything
- All credentials are salted and encrypted. Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) is standard.
- Your database is your asset. If you want the keys to do as you please, just ask!
What kinds of data can I push back into Xero?
You can automate posting journals, invoices & bills, credit notes, bank transactions, contacts and many more via our Office Add-In. You can even post to multiple Xero organisations from one Excel sheet. Let us know what content you need pushed, and we’ll confirm if it’s supported.
What are your Excel automation options?
You can properly automate Excel with our Office Add-In, which lets you download management reports directly into Excel and refresh them with one click. You can also automate custom reports and workflows using Power Query, so your spreadsheets stay live and up to date without manual exporting.
What templates or starter reports do you provide?
dataSights provides pre-built report templates for Power BI to get you started quickly. Customers can either use these or build custom dashboards using your synced data.
Which non-Xero data sources / connectors are supported?
Over 160 connectors are available, spanning CRM, HR, operations, and other systems. If you need a custom connector not on the list, dataSights can build one at a fixed price.
How long does implementation take / what resources are needed on our side?
Typically, onboarding takes just a few hours to set up your Xero organisations, define mapping/eliminations, configure reporting templates, and sync data. Our team will guide you through via onboarding support.
What are the pricing tiers and what features come at each level?
Pricing scales by number of entities (number of Xero companies you consolidate). Each tier includes unlimited users, reports, data refresh scheduling, and the ability to post data to multiple Xeros. Some add-ons like non-Xero data connectors or advanced account transactions/payroll may incur additional cost.
